The Pediatric Admissions and Emergency Division sees 29'139 young patients each year. At the entrance to the emergency division, a lone nurse conducts triage and provides first aid to patients. This nurse is often very busy and might also be interrupted up to 50 times a day by non-emergency visitors.
The project entails improving the admissions process by establishing a reception desk at the entrance to the Pediatric Emergency Division. This station will be staffed by a nursing assistant in charge of pre-filtering patients and directing visitors. This person will also monitor the patients in the emergency division’s waiting room and ensure that support staff follows up with them. The project will also renovate the waiting room and outfit it with toys and furniture more suitable for small patients.
