Context
Organ transplantation saves lives, yet the shortage of organs remains a critical challenge in Switzerland, where 75 people died in 2024 while waiting for a transplant. This issue reflects not only medical limitations but also a broader societal challenge involving public awareness, solidarity, and civic engagement. With Geneva hosting the ILTS 2026 Congress, Drawing Life aims to create a lasting legacy that reaches far beyond the scientific community.
Project
The project consists of a 40-page professionally illustrated graphic novel designed to make organ donation understandable and emotionally meaningful for adolescents aged 12 to 18. Through a mirrored narrative—one story following a transplant recipient and the other a donor—the comic transforms a complex medical topic into an accessible and human story of empathy, generosity, and hope. Distributed across schools, libraries, and healthcare settings, and accompanied by educational materials and guided discussions, Drawing Life seeks to foster dialogue, strengthen civic responsibility, and build a long-term culture of donation within Geneva’s youth.
