Participatory Art as a Therapeutic Practice

Develop collaborative artistic projects with patients with mental health disorders

Context

The Belle-Idée sector contains the majority of the general and specialized psychiatric hospital units in Geneva. Young patients and older patients alike come to this verdant location. Various treatment strategies are pursued here, such as artistic ventures including participatory art, where a piece is created in a social milieu to encourage recovery.

Project

This project allows patients at Belle-Idée to get involved in creating physical works of art and to take part in developing enriching collaborative projects such as frescoes and park furniture. Thanks to the Diane association, which specializes in participatory mosaic, they will also undertake renovating a shelter.
